Signing Up for Alberta Emergency Alert

Through Facebook

  1. Go to Alberta Emergency Alert.
  2. In the upper right hand corner, click on the link that says "Like us on Facebook."
  3. On the Alberta Emergency Alert's Facebook page, click on "Like."
  4. You will now receive Facebook updates in your News Feed.
  5. To receive text alerts through Facebook, visit Alberta Emergency Alert's Facebook page and click on "Get updates via SMS," then follow the prompts.

Through Twitter

  1. Go to Alberta Emergency Alert.
  2. In the upper right hand corner, click on the link that says "Twitter - Follow Us"
  3. You are now following Alberta Emergency Alert.
  4. From your computer, you can choose to receive SMS messages on your mobile phone for Alberta Emergency Alert's Twitter updates by clicking on the mobile phone icon. (Note: If you opt to not receive SMS messages, you must be logged into Twitter to view tweets. The hash tag is AB_EmergAlert.)

Through a RSS feed via cell phone and mobile devices

RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication, a format that allows information to be sent to you from a selected websites. Subscribe to a third-party reader such as that sends RSS feeds to your email in real time. Search "RSS reader" to find one of the many free readers.

  1. Once you have subscribed to a reader, enter the Alberta emergency Alert feed:
  2. Name the feed "Alberta Emergency Alert" and set the frequency to real time. To ensure alerts are received in a timely manner, we suggest using an email address that you check frequently on your mobile device.
