Devon's Solid Waste utility provides weekly collection of garbage and recyclables at the curb or lane of each residential home in Devon.
The Town of Devon operates a RECYCLE DEPOT located at 20 Haven Avenue.
Large Item Pick Up weeks are offered in the spring and fall each year, where residents can put out furniture, appliances, garden debris (branches, lumber etc. as long as it is cut into 1.2 metre lengths and tied into bundles).
Devon's solid waste is disposed at the Leduc and District Regional Landfill Authority site located south on 50th Street through Leduc, turn left on Rollyview Road and follow the signs.
Commercial waste collection and disposal is arranged by each business contracting with a waste hauler of their choice. Approximately 2300 tonnes of commercial waste is generated annually in Devon.
Garbage, Recycling, and Waste Information for Residents
Devon is a member of the Capital Region Waste Minimization Advisory Committee (CRWMAC). The Committee proposes to develop an integrated Regional Waste Management Plan for the Alberta Capital Region that will enable the region to achieve a target of 80% recycle/recovery and 20% disposal in landfill. The plan will evaluate the "how to" and feasibility of achieving these targets; and will provide dates.
CRWMAC has retained the services of EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd. operating as EBA, A Tetra Tech Company (EBA) to undertake the development of the plan and to act on behalf of the CRWMAC in this regard.
