Town Council 2007 - 2010

July - August 2010

On behalf of Town Council, I encourage our residents to consider opportunities to become involved in our community. Tuesday, September 14 is Community Awareness Night. This is an ideal venue for participants to learn about Devon’s community programming, service clubs, sports teams, as well as learning and recreational activities. Many of these essential resources owe their success to a dedicated and active group of volunteers. The town invites prospective volunteers to visit the Events section of this website to sign up to be a member of Devon’s vibrant volunteer team.
Devon will benefit tremendously from a busy and productive 2010 roadway and sidewalk construction season. Streets are buzzing with work crews and equipment for asphalt road overlays, replacement of curbs and sidewalks and new pedestrian links. The success of the Building Canada Economic Stimulus Fund is evident in the scope of the work being accomplished, with $3.7 million in federal and provincial grants being utilized to complete this season’s roads program. Work will continue into September; Devon Council and Administration extend our appreciation to residents and businesses for their patience and consideration as we move forward with this very worthwhile endeavor.

"Devon hosts an exceptional quality of life with an excellent Capital Region location.  A great part of what makes our town special is the river valley location. No other community in the province is more ideally placed. Devon is taking steps to ensure we develop and enhance the river valley area well balancing the needs of the environment, tourism, development and accessibility. Through my role on the River Valley Alliance I am working toward the goal to ‘Preserve, protect and enhance our remarkable river valley for the benefit of our future generations’.”
