Public Works and Land Services

The Public Works & Land Services Department operates 8 divisions of services for the benefit of the customers and rate payers of the Town of Devon, namely:

Roadway and utility services are provided on a 24-hour per day, 365-day per year basis by a total of 12 operating staff; planning, development, mapping & infrstructure services are provided during business hours by our development officer, manager of infrastructure and director. We currently serve over 6534 customers within and outside of our corporate boundaries.

The utilities are distinguished from the other functions in that these are not tax supported, but are operated as self-supporting business units, generating a surplus annually for the benefit of residents. Total assets managed in this department have a value in excess of $57 million; the annual operating budget is in the order of $7.7 million (plus capital projects).

24-HOUR EMERGENCY RESPONSE

The department maintains a 24-hour emergency response system for roadways and utilities (water, drainage, sanitary sewer, natural gas), call: Telephone 780.987.3342 and a service operator will respond to your call.
