2009 - 2014 Recreation Master Plan
Executive Summary
In 2007 and 2008 the town, in consultation with the Devon Parks, Recreation and Culture Board set out to perform a major review and update of the Recreation Master Plan for the community. The intent of this process was to put in place a comprehensive document that would provide a clear guideline for positive recreation development for years to come.
The master plan does not provide all of the answers for future recreational developments, nor does it provide exact dates or priorities. However, it does provide a comprehensive indication as to many of the visions of the day as well as identifying a number of issues that need to be taken into consideration when projects are being discussed in the future.
This comprehensive review included meetings with the DPRCB, community services staff, and a large community focus group session. This focus group session was comprised of people from the community. They met to review each of sections of this plan, giving us direct community feedback on what they would like to see in regards to services and development of facilities in relation to recreation, culture, and parks services. After nearly 24 months of research, discussions, drafts and revisions we feel that we have succeeded in putting together an effective recreation master plan.
The intention of the document is to provide a guide towards recreation and parks services within the town. This document can be utilized to support Devon’s facility development plan and any other related documents or plans.
