Town of Devon launches Black Knot education campaign

Black Knot information sessions to be held on March 6 and March 14

The Town of Devon is hosting two free information sessions to connect Devon residents with tree maintenance experts to learn how to properly deal with Black Knot as well as other winter pruning and tree care tips.

Information Session 1

Date: Wednesday, March 6
Time: 7-8:30 p.m.
Place: Dan Claypool Room, Devon Community Centre
Cost: No charge to attend

Presented by Allan Macaulay, local tree expert

Information Session 2

Date: Thursday, March 14
Time: 7-8:30 p.m.
Place: Dan Claypool Room, Devon Community Centre
Cost: No charge to attend

Presented by Frank Chipps, Peter Chipps and Anthony Holdsworth of Chipps Tree Care Inc.

“Black Knot is something that the Town continues to be having an ongoing battle with each year,” said Kristin Walsh, Manager of Parks, Recreation and Culture for the Town of Devon. “We know that we are having an impact by pruning Town trees, so we hope that by educating our residents about proper Black Knot pruning techniques, we can reduce the number of infected trees across Devon.”

If you believe you have a tree infected with Black Knot or any other tree related concerns, please bring a picture of the tree in question to the information sessions and our experts can diagnose the issue and provide advice on how to deal with it properly.
