Devon's Community Grant Program provides financial assistance towards projects that enhance and enrich the community. The Town of Devon particularly wishes to encourage initiatives from locally-based, registered, non-profit organizations that will impact a broad cross-section of the community, promote a positive community spirit, and are innovative in nature. Individuals or groups may apply for funding in the following areas:
The deadline for funding requests is October 1st of each year. Funding requests are considered as part of the Town’s annual budget deliberations, scheduled annually at the end of November. This small grant stream ($1,000 or less) assists not-for-profit community organizations whose primary activity is the provision of preventive social programs. These activities use proactive, strength based and intentional strategies to help individuals, families and communities develop skills required to form a strong sense of self resulting in the ability to build healthy relationships with others.

The Town of Devon believes in creating an inclusive community where all residents can lead a healthy and active lifestyle regardless of economic circumstance. Through the fund, financial barriers to participation in programs and activities are eased.
You are pre-approved if you are a recipient of: income support, AISH, Alberta Child Health Benefits or Alberta Adult Health Benefits. Those who are not pre-approved may still be eligible for the fund. Funding is determined by family income, size and circumstances.

Every application is important to us and will be processed in the order received to ensure fairness to all. The processing time may range from 2 – 4 weeks from the date received at the FCSS office, and varies during different times of the year, based on the volume of mail we receive. Please ensure you allow enough time to apply before registering for a program. Funds are not paid retroactively.
Applicants must submit a form for every new request but will not be required to supply proof of residency or income more than once in any one fiscal year (Jan 1 – Dec 31).
If you receive approval you will be contacted and instructions for registration will be provided. It is essential that your application is submitted early. Late applications are not guaranteed in time for registration.
Pool applications will not be accepted until May 1.
Strong communities include strong kids. We believe all kids should have the chance to run, skate, play, and grow. Canadian Tire Jumpstart® is a community-based charitable program that helps kids aged 4-18 participate in organized sports and recreation such as hockey, dance, soccer and swimming, so they can develop important life skills, self esteem and confidence.
Canadian Tire Jumpstart® delivers support to children in financial need through a Canadian-wide network of local chapters. These chapters are made up of a variety of community leaders committed to helping kids get active, such as Big Brothers and Big Sisters Canada, YMCA, and Parks and Recreation.
These community partners are joined by Canadian Tire Dealers and Petroleum Agents, and together the chapters identify children in financial need who would benefit from the program.
Applications for assistance can be submitted from January 15 to June 1 for spring/summer programs, and from July 1 to November 1 for fall/winter programs.
The total funding that each qualified child can receive in any one submission period (e.g., spring/summer for baseball, fall/winter for hockey) will vary based on Chapter budgets and demand. Grants are provided directly to the non-profit or charitable organization coordinating the sport or recreational activity on behalf of the qualifying child. Since each child's financial needs are unique, Canadian Tire Jumpstart's contribution can be made for equipment, registration or transportation costs.
All approvals are the sole discretion of the local Canadian Tire Jumpstart chapter and designated Canadian Tire Jumpstart personnel.
