WE ARE ENCOURAGING ANY DEVON RESIDENT TO TAKE PART IN ONE OR BOTH OF THESE ACTIVITIES DURING APRIL AND MAY WITH YOUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY BUT ALSO BY USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO INCLUDE YOUR REMOTE FAMILY, FRIENDS, NEIGHBOURS.
THIS IS THE ONLY TIME WE ARE ENCOURAGING THAT YOU HAVE YOUR PHONE OR LAPTOP AT THE TABLE WITH YOU SO YOU PLAY / TALK "TOGETHER".
We know that being indoors and / or together all the time has some unique issues but healthy connection is important. These challenges are designed as a tool to help you check in on each other; those in your home and friends, family, neighbours who are also in their homes.
Don't live together but still want to join in? Get creative - play charades, Pictionary, do you have a pack of cards? Chess set, Snakes and Ladders? Both of you set them games up in your own homes, get out your laptop, phone and put each other on FaceTime, Messenger etc. and you can move each others' pieces around.
Prop your phone or laptop up in the kitchen and talk while you are sitting eating.
We can do this :)
Please note - the CORRECT return date is Friday June 5, 2020 at 4pm for all applications. The previous date indicated was wrong - the contest runs until May 30, 2020, apologies for any confusion.
Table Talks - we are challenging you to eat a minimum of 28 sit-down meals together over two months and talk - check in on each other, ask the questions.
FUN-O Games Night - not just UNO anymore... Do you enjoy games? 28 days of fun over two months to connect? Then this challenge is for you!
BOTH of these challenges provide an opportunity to win $200 first prize and $100 second prize. See Prize Details below for information.
For TABLE TALKS - Get your game sheet here.
For FUN-O - Get your game sheet - download it here .
Questions: access the questions (to get conversations started).
The game sheets can be emailed to you in Word format if that helps!
For BOTH - you play or sit and eat together for a minimum of 10 minutes per day the first ‘level’ followed by 15, 20, and end with 25 minutes as you near the end of the challenge. Each level must take seven days to complete, but participants will have up to 14 days per level to complete their UNO games (we know life can be a bit busy!). Overall, challengers have two months to play at least once per day over a span of 28 days in total.
When you are finished the challenge, just email in the fully completed game sheet to the Town Office by 4pm Friday, June 5, 2020 to be entered to win. FCSS@devon.ca
The main challenger must be a Devon resident. Non-residents are welcome to play but cannot enter to win.
Anyone who is a resident can play - not restricted to families; singles, couples etc.
Try to play / eat with as many people as possible (it doesn’t always have to be the same family members – include Grandma, uncles, neighbours, friends etc.) but you MUST follow strict physical distancing rules.
You will be required to complete a short questionnaire on your entry form when you return it at the end of the challenge.
Each ‘level’ - 10, 15, 20 and 25 minutes – must be done for seven days each and you have two weeks to complete each one.
Aim to have a conversation with each other every time you play and check in to see how everyone is doing – if you want some “different” ideas we have included a list of questions you can ask with the game sheet.
Only one entry for each challenge per household / family.
Incomplete entry forms and / or those who didn’t make the full 28 will not be accepted. You can email it to FCSS@devon.ca or return to the office by putting it in the mail box - however, we would encourage email wherever possible to limit the need for being outside. You can take a photo of the completed forms for email purposes. During COVID 19 social distancing restrictions BOTH Table Talks and FUN-O will be running.
The winning prize will be awarded to the person named on the entry form.
Table Talks - First prize $200 food gift card, second prize $100 food gift card. FUN-o! - First prize $200 gift card, second prize $100 gift card with a choice of a food gift card OR a games card.
Winners from the eligible entries will be drawn at random on the date specified on the applicable game sheet.
There is no cash alternative available for either prize.
If you wish to donate your prize it will be redirected to the Families in Need Crisis Fund or the Food Bank.
