Indoor ice skating is part of Devon’s culture and charm. The Dale Fisher Arena is home to the Devon Minor Hockey Association, Devon Skating Club, Devon Barons Mens Hockey team and Northern Alberta Xtreme Hockey Academy. In addition to the main indoor arena, a full size outdoor rink adjacent to the Dale Fisher Arena offers leisurely skating options. Devon has additional outdoor skating rinks available during the winter season, which are free to use and can be accessed up until 10pm at night:
• Centennial Park skating rink.
• Ravines skating rink, located in the Ravines housing division.
Embrace winter – get on your bike and ride! Devon is the place to go for fatbiking in the snow. Experience the many groomed trails throughout Voyageur Park and the river valley, with rentals available from the local Devon bike shop. Feeling more adventurous? Tromp through the powder in snow shoes, also available for rent locally.
Cross Country Skiing
Devon sets the stage for breathtaking skiing adventures. The Devon Nordic Ski Club packs, sets and maintains 10km of groomed trails. The trails range in difficulty from beginner to expert and wind through the scenic North Saskatchewan River valley, beginning at the Nordic building. The ski trails continue through the Lions Campground, onto the Devon Golf Course, and back to the Ski Chalet. Skiers can choose from easy, intermediate or difficult trails, making Devon’s Nordic skiing enjoyable for all levels of ability. For more information visit devonnordic.ca
