Counselling Support

Crisis Support

If you or someone you know are in danger, or are at imminent risk of suicide call 9-1-1.

If you, or anyone you know, needs support at any time, please call 24/7 at 1-800-232-7288.

Subsidized Counselling & Mental Health Referrals

Sometimes you may need some additional support to help you through a difficult or stressful time. The Town of Devon can offer a limited number of counselling sessions for eligible residents.

Subsidies for counselling are based on income.

  • For those who do not have children under 18 living at home, you may qualify if you earn less than $50,000 per household
  • For those with children under 18 at home this threshold increases to $75,000

Both counseling centres that the Town refers clients to for subsidized counselling are based in Leduc.

For more information on what each centre can offer, go to Family Counselling Centres or Karunia Counselling.

Indigenous Mental Health Support Options

While any eligible resident can access our subsidized counselling and get support to find other resources, our FCSS office has also gathered a list of external resources that may be of specific, additional, assistance to the Indigenous community. We will work with residents to access any of these, as well as any other supports, as needed.

This document can be found here - if you are aware of any inaccuracies, please inform the office so that it can be adjusted accordingly.

Other Mental Health Support Options

Our FCSS will work with residents to discuss other mental health options and referrals, as needed.

Our Committment to Support Mental Wellness

The Town of Devon Community Services department aims to focus their work around creating a mentally healthy community. We do this using a mentla wellness lense with our work that we call #YouGotThis. To support this approach, the Town offers a variety of social, emotional, physical and nutritional programs, services and support groups that can support mental wellness.

Catching Snowflakes

Our FCSS team aim to promote positive mental wellbeing during the Christmas season with our "Catching Snowflakes" campaign. The message is a simple one; be kind to yourself and others, and take time for the little things that bring you joy (such as the delight kids, and many adults, get from catching snowflakes in the hand or on the tongue). It can be hard to give ourselves that break but just a few minutes to listen to a song, have a chat, drink a coffee, step outside, can really make a difference to your mood; the little things do add up in the positive way as well.
