203 Community Events Fire Ban effective May 7, 2025 Updated May 7, 2025 The Town of Devon has elevated its fire danger rating to a Fire Ban as dry conditions and high wildfire risk continue to impact the region. The Fine Fuel Moisture and Fire Spread Index are both at extreme levels, prompting the need for immediate precautions to protect our community. Effective immediately: All active fire permits are cancelled. No new permits for open burning or fireworks will be issued. Recreational fires, including those in approved backyard fire pits, are not permitted. Smokers (solid-fuel burning appliances) are prohibited. Propane and gas-fueled appliances (e.g., BBQs, camp stoves) are still allowed for cooking. Residents are reminded to be extremely cautious with smoking materials: Always dispose of cigarettes in metal containers and keep them wet. Never discard smoking materials in flowerpots, on trails, in dry vegetation, or from vehicles. This fire ban is a proactive measure to reduce the risk of wildfires and keep our community safe. Devon Fire Rescue continues to monitor local conditions closely and will update the public as needed.
