Paid Parking to be in Effect Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays & Stat Holidays

The Town of Devon is introducing a paid parking pilot program for all users at Voyageur Park beginning June 1, 2025, and running through September 30, 2025. The initiative is aimed at managing increasing park traffic, enhancing visitor safety, and supporting ongoing park improvements.

Why a Paid Parking Pilot?

In recent years, Voyageur Park has seen a significant rise in visitors, leading to congestion, safety concerns, and challenges maintaining service levels. After careful review, Council and Administration have approved a paid parking pilot to address these issues and improve the overall park experience.

The goals of the pilot program are to:

  • Improve traffic flow and emergency access
  • Enhance safety for park users and staff
  • Fund maintenance and future improvements within Voyageur Park

This pilot builds upon the success of the boat launch paid parking system, introduced in 2021, which effectively reduced congestion and restored proper use of that lot.

How the Pilot Will Work

Paid parking will be in effect at Voyageur Park’s three main lots on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and statutory holidays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Parking will remain free Monday through Thursday.

Parking Rates:

  • Voyageur Park: $2 per hour, to a maximum of $6 per day
  • Boat Launch Parking Lot: $2.50 per hour, to a maximum of $10 per day

Payment will be contactless, with visitors using a scan-to-pay system via their mobile device. Seasonal passes will not be offered during the pilot period.

Where the Funds Will Go

Revenue collected from the paid parking program will be reinvested directly into Voyageur Park to support enhanced park maintenance, increased bylaw patrols and future infrastructure and amenity improvement

Looking Ahead

The Town will monitor the pilot closely throughout the summer and collect feedback and data to guide future decisions about permanent parking solutions. This project reflects Devon’s commitment to balancing public access to community spaces while ensuring their long-term sustainability and safety.
