3636 Community Events Devon doing its part to support AHS and prevent the spread of COVID-19 Town of Devon Council held a Special Council Meeting on Mar. 13 to discuss Devon’s plan for responding to the growing concerns of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Alberta and ensure all steps are being taken to support Alberta Health Services to prevent the spread of COVID-19. At this time, the risk for Alberta is low and Town operations will continue to provide the services that are expected by residents. “The safety of our residents and staff is our top priority and we are in full support of Alberta Health Services as they continue working to promote healthy practices and institute restrictions to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus in Alberta,” said Ray Ralph, Mayor for the Town of Devon. “Administration has been doing an excellent job keeping our Council apprised of the situation and will continue working to provide our residents with municipal services and information as we all work through this together.” Infrastructure The Town has a plan in place to keep all Town-operated infrastructure available to residents including water, wastewater, natural gas and public works services. Programs & Facilities As of today, there have been a few cancellations/postponements to Town-related programming including drop in programs and Volunteer Appeciation Night as we adhere to the province’s restriction on mass gatherings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We have not closed the Dale Fisher Arena or Devon Community Centre at this time, but this may change if deemed necessary. The Town would like to reassure anyone registered in our recreation programs that are cancelled or those simply looking to withdraw from a program due to health-related concerns, will receive a full refund. Residents looking to cancel any facility rentals will also be given a full refund if requested. Additional changes to programming/facility closures will be available at devon.ca/covid19.
