Event date: 10/4/2021 6:00 PM - 9:15 PM Export event

The Devon & District Chamber of Commerce is proud to be hosting the 2021 Devon Municipal Candidates Public Forum as a non-partisan organization to support the upcoming municipal election on Oct. 18. All municipal candidates are invited to participate in the public forum as questions from the community are asked to help voters gain an informed opinion of who they would like to support on election day.

Due to the growing concerns of COVID-19, a decision has been made that this forum will be hosted virtually through the Zoom platform. We understand that for many of you, both candidate and residents, this is not ideal for a forum, however due to the province’s current State of Public Health Emergency, we need to do our part to ensure this forum can be hosted safely and within all government guidelines.

Date: Monday, Oct. 4, 2021
Time: 6-9:15 p.m. (6-8 p.m. for Councillor candidates, 8-9:15 p.m. for Mayor candidates)

Forum Moderator

The forum will be moderated by Mr. Ian McCormack, President of Strategic Steps Inc.

Mr. McCormack has a broad range of experience including work in government, for-profit and non-profit spheres. In the past couple of years, he has worked in two US states, three Canadian provinces, and in two of Canada’s northern territories. His areas of interest include local government, ethics in governance, libraries, housing, post-secondary education, health, non-profit organizations, and community safety.

How to submit questions for candidates

We ask that questions for candidates are submitted in advance to the Devon Chamber at info@devonchamber.ca by Saturday, Oct. 2 at 11:59 p.m. and that all questions specify if they are directed to all candidates or just the mayoral candidates.

Questions will also be taken from the floor if time permits after submitted questions.

Public Forum Etiquette

We ask that all participants in the forum be respectful of one another and of all candidates running to serve on Council. Coarse language, abuse or harassment of a participant or candidate through the Q & A section will not be tolerated and you will be removed and unable to rejoin if deemed necessary by the moderator.
