71 Community Events Long-term agreement ensures stability for one of Devon’s key recreational amenities The Town of Devon and the Devon Golf Course Board are pleased to announce the extension of the golf course lease, effective January 1, 2026, securing the long-term operation of one of Devon’s most valued recreational amenities. The new agreement provides a long-term lease that allows the Devon Golf Course Board to continue operating the Devon Golf Course on Town-owned land, ensuring stability, sustainability, and ongoing community access to the facility. Situated along the North Saskatchewan River valley and adjacent to the Devon Lions Campground, the course remains a cornerstone of Devon’s summer recreation and a scenic destination for residents and visitors alike. “Since opening in 1954 for Devon’s oil workers, the Devon Golf Course has been guided by a dedicated non-profit board,” said Mayor Craddock. “Their focus has always been long-term sustainability and ensuring accessible, affordable, and inclusive recreation for our community.” The renewed lease strengthens the partnership between the Town and the Golf Course Board, providing the certainty needed to plan for the future while continuing to serve the community today. “The golf course benefits greatly from a strong partnership with the Town of Devon,” said Brent Paul, President of the Devon Golf & C. C. Board. “A new long-term lease allows the golf course to confidently proceed with long-term improvements to the course, providing employment opportunities to local residents, and growing the game in the region.” The Town of Devon recognizes the Devon Golf Course as a valued recreational asset that contributes to community well-being, local employment, and tourism, while preserving access to outdoor recreation in the river valley.
