Monday, June 1, 2026 1 Community Events MCCAC funding supports LED lighting upgrades and improved weatherstripping The Town of Devon has completed energy efficiency upgrades at Town Hall, replacing aging CFL lighting with high-efficiency LED bulbs and fixtures and installing new weatherstripping on exit doors. Supported through funding from the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC), the upgrades will help reduce electricity and natural gas use, lower operating costs and decrease greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions over the life of the system. The new LED lighting provides improved performance and reliability for the Town Office, while the upgraded weatherstripping creates tighter seals on exit doors to help reduce heat loss. Project details include: Total project cost: $10,071.42 Rebate received: $10,000 Estimated annual energy cost savings: approximately $3,976.93 Estimated electricity savings: 28,407 kWh per year Estimated natural gas savings: 137.45 GJ per year GHG reduction: 257.43 tonnes of CO₂ over the life of the system Funding for the project was provided through MCCAC’s Municipal Energy Manager Program, with support from the Government of Alberta. MCCAC is a partnership between Alberta Municipalities, the Rural Municipalities of Alberta and the Government of Alberta. “Investing in energy efficiency at Town Hall is a simple but important way to reduce costs and extend the life of our municipal facilities,” said Mayor Jeff Craddock. “We appreciate MCCAC’s support in helping the Town complete these upgrades, which will provide long-term savings while supporting a more sustainable future for Devon.” Improving energy performance at Town Hall helps ensure the facility remains efficient, sustainable and cost-effective for years to come.
