This retreat will be held at the River Lodge Retreat Centre, Spruce Grove, Alberta (http://riverlodgeretreat.com).

The theme of this retreat will be based on “Establishing Mindfulness & Developing Vipassana,” followed by the Metta Sutta (Loving-Kindness Discourses). Bhante Suseela & Bhante Nanda will lead the group. Considering experiences and schedule availability of participants, we will accommodate 2 categories/sections in the program. All sections will commence on August 16th.

Short-term Section

his section will be ideal for beginners and some experienced practitioners in Samatha-Vipassana meditation techniques. Instruction and guidance will be provided assuming minimum to no prior experience in meditation. This section will be held from Aug 16 to 21 (5 nights) and the retreat fee of $300 will be charged to cover accommodation and expenses.

Full Program

The Full Program offered from Aug 16th to 23rd will be most beneficial for experienced or regular practitioners. A retreat fee of $375 will be charged to cover accommodation and expenses.

Deposit

All registrants are required to make a $100 deposit (non-refundable) within 7 days of the registration, preferably by e-transfer to treasurer@abva.org or by cheque payable to Alberta Buddhist Vihara Association, due to non-refundable deposit required by the River Lodge Retreat Centre.

Special Note

While early completion of short-term sections has been designed for the convenience of less experienced practitioners, all participants are encouraged to enroll in the full program to maximize the benefit from this retreat. At the same time, experienced practitioners with scheduling difficulties may consider attending a shorter section. You have the option to receive guidance based on your experience level irrespective of the section you are registered for.
