Two key agreements support continued service delivery and long-term planning

The Town of Devon is reinforcing its commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality public services through two significant agreement renewals that will benefit residents today while supporting long-term planning for the future.

Council has approved a five-year extension of the lease agreement for the Devon Public Library through June 2031 and renewed the Devon/Parkland County Fire Services Agreement through Dec. 31, 2028. Together, these agreements demonstrate the Town's continued investment in strong community partnerships and essential municipal services.

Devon Public Library lease extended

With the current library lease coming to an end, the Town has formalized a five-year extension of the current lease for the Devon Public Library, ensuring library services will continue without interruption through 2031. The agreement also includes provisions allowing the Town to exit the lease with 24 months' notice, providing flexibility to thoughtfully explore future opportunities for the library's long-term location.

The renewed lease ensures residents will continue to have access to the library's valued collections, programs, lifelong learning opportunities and welcoming community gathering space while the Town evaluates options that best support the community's evolving needs.

The Town also extends its sincere thanks to residents who participated in the recent library community survey session. Feedback gathered through the submissions of the community survey will be presented to Council this fall and will help inform future discussions and decisions regarding the library's long-term location and service delivery.

Devon/Parkland County Fire Services Agreement renewed

Council has also renewed the Devon/Parkland County Fire Services Agreement, extending the longstanding regional partnership through Dec. 31, 2028.

The renewed agreement supports the continued collaboration between the Town of Devon Fire Rescue and Parkland County, helping ensure effective emergency response, operational efficiency and enhanced fire protection for both communities. By working together, the two municipalities are able to strengthen emergency response capacity, share resources and continue providing high-quality fire services across municipal boundaries.

This partnership reflects the shared commitment of both municipalities to protecting residents, businesses and visitors through coordinated fire services.

"Council's priority is ensuring residents continue to receive the high-quality services they depend on every day," said Mayor Craddock. "Extending the library lease provides certainty for library users while giving us the flexibility to thoughtfully plan for the future. Renewing our Fire Services Agreement with Parkland County continues a strong regional partnership that enhances emergency response and public safety for both communities."

These agreements reflect the Town's commitment to responsible long-term planning, regional collaboration and the delivery of reliable municipal services. The Town will continue to keep residents informed as planning progresses and remains committed to working with community partners to meet the evolving needs of Devon.
