Spring is here, and that means construction season is right around the corner! Across Devon, we’re getting ready to roll out a number of important capital projects that help maintain, improve, and grow our community.

From infrastructure upgrades to facility improvements, here’s a look at what’s happening this year.


🎥 Town Office AV Upgrades

The audio-visual equipment in Council Chambers has reached the end of its lifecycle, so we’re upgrading systems at the Town Office to better support how meetings are shared with the public.

This project will:

  • Improve the quality of livestreamed Council meetings
  • Enhance audio and video for in-person meetings
  • Introduce updated technology in other meeting spaces to help staff connect more effectively with partners and the community

Timeline: Spring start, fall completion (2026)
Budget: $165,000 (Technology Reserve)


🏒 GFL Twin Arena Upgrades

We’re making improvements behind the scenes to keep the arena running efficiently and comfortably.

Upgrades include:

  • New make-up air unit in the concession area
  • Replacement of large-capacity hot water tanks
  • Concession equipment upgrades

Timeline: Spring start, fall completion (2026)
Budget: $209,100 (Arena Reserve)


🚒 Fire Engine Replacement (Engine #1)

A new fire engine is on the way to support our emergency services team. This long-term investment ensures our firefighters have safe, reliable, modern equipment when it matters most.

Current status: Ordered
Estimated arrival: Fall 2027
Budget: $1,630,000 (Local Government Fiscal Framework Funding)


💡 Kananaskis Solar Pathway Lighting

We’re continuing to expand solar-powered pathway lighting in the Kananaskis area.

Benefits:

  • Improved safety and visibility
  • Energy-efficient lighting solution

Timeline: Spring start, fall completion (2026)
Budget: $50,000 (Green Reserve)


🚧 Aspenleaf Road Rehabilitation

A section of Aspenleaf Road that experiences spring-related issues is getting some much-needed attention.

What’s happening:

  • Road rehabilitation to improve durability and drainage

Timeline: Spring start, fall completion (2026)
Budget: $45,000 (Canada Community Building Fund)


🌿 Peace Cemetery Improvements

We’re expanding and enhancing Peace Cemetery to better serve families now and into the future.

Improvements include:

  • New columbarium and family columbarium spaces
  • Additional pathways
  • New entrance kiosk

Timeline: Spring start, winter completion (2026-2027)
Budget: $95,000 (Cemetery Reserve)


⚡ Reservoir Generator Replacement

To ensure reliable water service during emergencies, we’re replacing the backup generator at Reservoir #1.

Timeline: Spring 2026 to spring 2027
Budget: $340,000 (Water Reserve)


🏊 Pool Deck & Surfacing Upgrade

Get ready for a refreshed pool experience!

Upgrades include:

  • New pool deck surfacing
  • Improvements to common areas
  • Pool surface enhancements

Timeline: Spring start, fall completion (2026)
Budget: $100,000 (Pool Reserve)


♻️ Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades

We’re investing in critical infrastructure to support Devon’s growth and environmental performance.

Project includes:

  • Security fencing upgrades
  • Evaluation of the current outfall system
  • Membrane capacity upgrades

Timeline: Spring start, winter completion (2026-2027)
Budget: $720,000 (Sewage/Capital Replacement Reserve)


🌧️ Michigan Street Storm Line Upgrades

A section of storm pipe has shifted and needs replacement.

What’s happening:

  • Replacement of failed storm line including full width roadway rehabilitation
  • Improvements to the storm outfall system

Timeline: Spring start, fall completion (2026)
Budget: $445,000 (Canada Community Building Fund)

As these projects get underway, residents can expect to see increased activity around Town throughout the spring and summer months.

We’ll continue to:
