3986 Community Events Fireworks postponed to a future date due to heat & dry weather We are excited to announce that the Midway rides will be proceed for Devon Days 2023. On Monday, June 5, the Devon Days Committee and Town officials met with Wildrose Shows to discuss their operations at Devon Days this weekend and determine the safest path forward for the community. Through this meeting, three criteria were outlined in order for the Midway rides to operate: Recertification for Wild Rose Shows through the Alberta Elevating Devices & Amusement Ride Safety Association (AEDARSA), the governing body for Alberta Safety retraining for Wild Rose Shows Staff Confirmation of Wild Rose Shows ability to provide one safety certified individual for every 3 rides in the Midway After a busy week of inspections by AEDARSA and a site visit from Alberta OHS Officers, Wildrose Shows was able to meet these criteria and the Midway rides will be available throughout the Devon Days weekend. The two rides that caused injuries to riders this past weekend have also been pulled from the rotation for Devon Days as they undergo further inspection. “The Midway is an important part of Devon Days every year and we are excited to see that the rides will be available for the community to enjoy,” said Mayor Craddock. “Safety at the event was our top concern through meeting with Wildrose Shows and we are glad to see that it was just as important for them as they met all of the criteria we were looking for to have a safe and fun weekend here in Devon.” We would also like to thank and recognize the Devon Days Committee for their attention to this and for working with the Town to make the best decision possible for the community. Fireworks Postponed Due to the above average temperatures and lack of recent precipitation, the Devon Days fireworks have been postponed to a future date.
