1804 Community Events Town Council is aware of a post shared on social media last week by a member of Council that is not representative of our values of diversity and inclusion and we take this matter very seriously. We have discussed this as a Council at our first meeting since it took place on Sept. 1. Together, we have reaffirmed the importance of our values of inclusion and diversity as they are what makes our Town not only a great place to live, but also ensures that every resident and visitor feels safe and welcome. Devon is a healthy, active, sustainable, and inclusive community and we will continue our commitment to inclusion through regular gatherings, events and awareness initiatives that provide learning opportunities for residents and celebrates Devon’s diverse population. Through our inclusive workplace culture, Indigenous and LGBTQ2S+ based gatherings, educational initiatives and regular training opportunities for Council and staff, we work towards continuing our path forward in celebrating inclusion and diversity within the community through action and by example. We will continue to work with each other, Administration, and our residents to ensure they are given appropriate learning opportunities to support Devon’s values of a healthy, respectful, compassionate, and accepting community that celebrates and welcomes diversity.
