Tuesday, October 29, 2019 4812 Community Events Congratulations to Keep it Clean & Green and Mainstreet Mud Winners of the fourth edition of the Devon Environmental Sustainability Awards (DESA) were announced this past weekend at the Devon Business Expo. Congratulations to Keep it Clean & Green for being selected as the first-place winner of this year’s award and to Mainstreet Mud for being selected as the runner up. The DESA recognizes businesses for their commitment to environmentally friendly practices within their business. “It is great to see businesses like Keep it Clean & Green return after finishing as a runner up last year,” said Ray Ralph, Mayor for the Town of Devon. “We hope to see even more of our Devon businesses enter to win our Environmental Sustainability Awards next year and share environmental initiatives.” 1st Place: Keep it Clean & Green Keep it Clean & Green is a residential/commercial cleaning business that uses green and organic cleaners as a part of their business. Along with this, Keep it Clean & Green is paperless with their operations and they actively reuse and recycle materials. 2nd Place: Mainstreet Mud Mainstreet Mud is a pottery studio that runs a nearly zero-waste operation and have reduced their waste to one small container every 2-3 weeks by reusing materials, recycling and disposing of all organic waste in a proper manner. Runner Up: Novomet Canada Limited Novomet uses Power Saving Electric Submersible Pumps to reduce their energy use by about 25-30%. Based on units installed to date, 1 Megawatt of continuous electricity has been eliminated from Alberta and Saskatchewan power systems.
