The Town of Devon is throwing Canada a great 150th birthday and invites everyone to come join us for this milestone. The celebration will be held July 1 in Voyageur Park with the Canada 150 Heritage Celebration running from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. that day.

There will be a number of events at Voyageur Park throughout Canada Day including:

  • The West Coast Lumberjack Show
  • Live music and cultural entertainment
  • Antique fire truck rides
  • Complimentary hotdogs, cake and bus shuttle
  • Dunk Tank
  • Watermelon eating contests for youth and adults
  • Food trucks
  • And more!

In an effort to get residents to and from the event safely, there will be a Park n’ Ride and a Park n’ Stride. The Park n’ Ride will pick up and drop off at 17 Athabasca Ave. off Main Street. The Park n’ Stride will be at 2 Saskatchewan Ave. West, at the top of the hill by Voyageur Park. There will be no parking down at Voyageur Park for the event; only boat trailers will be allowed to park at the boat launch parking lot.

“It’s always a challenge to improve on our past events and with it being Canada’s 150th birthday this year, we wanted to celebrate the culture and heritage of the region through this Canada Day experience,” said Jordan Higgs, Community Programs & Events Coordinator for the Town of Devon. “I think the range of activities from the West Coast Lumberjack Show to the multicultural booths in addition to Devon’s beloved traditions like the watermelon eating contest and potato sack races will make this year’s celebration extra special.”

Devon’s Canada 150 events go beyond the Canada Day celebration. The Fort Edmonton Canoe Brigade will arrive in Voyageur Park at 4 p.m. June 30 and depart from the Lions Park Campground at 7:30 a.m. July 1 along with a community pancake breakfast in the campground hosted by the Devon Lions with plates costing $8 each.

On July 3, the Voyageurs Rendezvous will arrive in Voyageur Park at 4 p.m. and they will depart from the Devon Lions Campground on July 4 as well.
