Top Highlights from the Meeting

✔ Former Councillor Tanya Hugh was recognized for 12 years of service to the Town of Devon
✔ Council approved emergency repairs to Stormwater Outfall #2
✔ Council provided first reading to the updated Council Procedural Bylaw 1032/2026


Recognition of Former Councillor Tanya Hugh

Council recognized former Councillor Tanya Hugh for her years of service and commitment to the Devon community. A slideshow presentation and commemorative photo were presented in recognition of her three consecutive terms on Council from 2013 to 2025.


Council Procedural Bylaw 1032/2026

Council accepted legal advice regarding updates to Council Procedural Bylaw 1032/2026 and provided first reading to the bylaw as amended to include a land acknowledgement.

The proposed updates include clarification around:

  • Public hearing procedures
  • Recording requirements for public hearing minutes
  • Delegation procedures
  • Administrative corrections and editorial updates

The bylaw also includes updated language outlining how public hearing submissions are recorded in meeting minutes.


Emergency Repairs to Stormwater Outfall #2

Council approved the transfer of $100,000 from the Stormwater Reserve to address emergency repair work required at Stormwater Outfall #2.


Community Bus Use Policy Approved

Council approved the Devon Transit – Community Bus Use Policy 3801. The policy outlines the use and operation of the community bus program.


Library Bylaw Amendments Approved

Council approved amendments to the Devon Library Board Bylaw.


Assessment Review Board Appointment

Council appointed Braden Lanctot as an additional Assessment Review Board Official: Certified Panelist.


Large Item Pick-Up Concerns Discussed

Council discussed concerns related to the Large Item Pick-Up program and accepted the concerns expressed as information.


Family & Community Support Services Association of Alberta (FCSSAA) Conference Attendance Approved

Council approved Councillor Ben Gronberg’s attendance at the 2026 FCSSAA Conference.


Information Request – No Mow May

Council directed Administration to bring back information regarding:

  • The costs associated with mowing the community
  • Potential savings related to a “No Mow May” approach
  • Potential impacts of implementing the initiative

Notice of Motion

Councillor Dhanoa introduced a Notice of Motion directing Administration to prepare amendments to transition away from the Indigenous Relations Advisory Committee structure. The motion also proposes reallocating a portion of funding toward Indigenous cultural events or educational initiatives aligned with other Town-led programming. The motion will be discussed at the June 8, 2026 Council meeting.
