Top Highlights from the Meeting

✔ Council adopted the new Advertising & Public Notice Bylaw and Council Procedural Bylaw
✔ Councillor Mike Hanly was appointed Deputy Mayor through Feb. 28, 2027
✔ Council approved the RCMP 2027–2032 Multi-Year Financial Plan
✔ Council authorized the extension of the Devon Public Library lease


Advertising & Public Notice Bylaw Adopted

Following a Public Hearing, Council approved second and third readings of Advertising & Public Notice Bylaw 1031/2026.

The new bylaw modernizes how the Town provides statutory public notices by allowing additional electronic notification methods while continuing to meet the requirements of the Municipal Government Act.


Council Procedural Bylaw Receives Final Approval

Council approved second and third readings of Council Procedural Bylaw 1032/2026.

Prior to the vote, a written submission from a resident regarding the inclusion of a Treaty 6 Territory and Traditional Land Acknowledgement within the bylaw was read into the record and accepted as information. The bylaw was approved as amended.


Councillor Mike Hanly Appointed Deputy Mayor

Council appointed Councillor Mike Hanly as Deputy Mayor for the period of July 1, 2026, to Feb. 28, 2027.

Mayor Jeff Craddock administered the Oath of Office following the appointment.


Long-Term RCMP Financial Plan Approved

Council approved the RCMP 2027–2032 Multi-Year Financial Plan and authorized the Mayor to execute the agreement.

The plan establishes a six-year framework to support long-term financial planning for policing services in Devon.


Response to Town of Calmar Regarding Voyageur Park Parking Program

Council considered correspondence from the Town of Calmar regarding the paid parking program at Voyageur Park.

Council directed that a letter be sent under the Mayor's signature thanking the Town of Calmar for its correspondence and respectfully declining its request.


Grant Reporting to be Included in Budget Discussions

Council directed Administration to include reports on 2026 community grant recipients during future budget deliberations.

The reports will provide Council with additional information on how community grant funding is being used.


Library Lease Extension Authorized

Following an in-camera discussion, Council authorized Administration to finalize and execute the extension of the Devon Public Library lease.
