Wednesday, February 11, 2026 10 Community Events Kits are available for borrowing through the Devon Public Library The Town of Devon, in partnership with the Devon Public Library, is excited to announce the launch of Home Energy Efficiency Kits, now available for residents to borrow at no cost. The program is designed to help homeowners and renters better understand their household energy use, identify potential savings, and support Devon’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. Funding for the project was provided through FortisAlberta’s Save Energy Grant Program, which supports communities in delivering impactful energy efficiency and conservation initiatives. Energy Efficiency Kits provide hands-on tools that allow residents to assess energy consumption and learn practical steps to improve home comfort. Each kit includes a variety of easy-to-use devices such as thermal scanners, fridge and freezer thermometers, radon detectors, humidity and temperature monitors, wattmeters, and indoor air quality monitors. Devon’s kits also feature two additional diagnostic tools: Multi-meters, which measure voltage, current, and resistance—helping residents safely check outlets, batteries, cords, and small electronics. Wireless Hot-Wire Anemometers, which measure air speed and airflow to identify drafts, ventilation issues, and areas where heated or cooled air may be escaping. “These kits give our residents the opportunity to take simple, practical steps toward reducing their energy use and lowering utility costs,” said Mayor Craddock. “Thank you to FortisAlberta for giving us the opportunity to offer this service to the community at no cost for our residents.” Each kit includes a user-friendly manual featuring tips that can be implemented right away. The manual also provides guidance on larger upgrades for residents who want to take additional steps toward long-term efficiency improvements. Borrowing a Kit Residents can borrow a Home Energy Efficiency Kit by visiting the Devon Public Library during regular hours. Kits are available free of charge and can be signed out like any other library item. Learn more here! Share Print
