The Town of Devon is honored to announce the establishment of the Indigenous Relations Advisory Committee to continue the work of fostering mutual understanding, respect, and collaboration between Devon and all Indigenous Peoples.

“We have been exploring new ways with our approach to Indigenous Engagement over the past year and I believe that this community-driven Committee is a great next step towards furthering Devon’s reconciliation efforts,” said Mayor Craddock.

What’s This Committee All About?

The Indigenous Relations Advisory Committee is all about teamwork and coming up with plans to better understand and uphold our Treaty responsibilities. The Committee is a place for the community to take the lead on projects that educate, involve, and promote leadership in Indigenous relations.

In total, the Committee will have up to ten members with representation from the Town Administration, Council, the Devon Public Library, local school divisions and the public at large.

We Need You!

The Town is looking for up to four residents who are ready to share their ideas, and experiences with the Committee. Specific experience of interest to the Committee includes working with Indigenous Elders, recreation, education, arts & culture, health and social development and transportation.

Ready to join? Fill out the application at devon.ca/boards by midnight on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, and share your ideas of how we can build stronger ties with Indigenous communities.
