5287 Community Events At the May 23, 2017 council meeting, Devon Town Council voted unanimously to join the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Economic Development Entity (EMREDE). This new initiative, created by the Capital Region Board, will promote the Edmonton Metropolitan Region to the world. Devon joins twelve other municipalities in the region who have also voted to become shareholders in EMREDE including Strathcona County, Parkland County, Leduc County, Beaumont, Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan, Morinville, Spruce Grove, St. Albert, Stony Plain, Sturgeon County and Bon Accord. Gibbons is expected to vote to become a shareholder at their May 24 council meeting. “We are excited to be a part of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Economic Development Entity with many of the other municipalities in our region,” said Mayor Lindop. “Our Council recognizes that this is our chance to work together with our regional partners and create more interest and more opportunities to attract business to the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.” The deadline for early adopters to join EMREDE was May 24. The next step for the organization is a shareholders organizational meeting on June 8, 2017.
