Ice Mitigation Update - Week of Jan. 26-30, 2026

The Town of Devon will continue ice mitigation efforts next week, including plowing, managing windrows, and hauling snow where required. Work plans may adjust based on weather, equipment, and road conditions.

Snow Removal Update - Jan. 21, 2026

As one of Devon’s largest snow removal efforts in recent years winds down, the Town would like to extend its appreciation to the community. Residents’ patience, cooperation, and support have played an important role in helping crews complete residential snow removal safely and efficiently. Thank you, Devon.

Ice Mitigation Effort – Starting January 21

Crews are now shifting into this season’s Ice Mitigation Effort, which includes scraping, breaking, and removing ice buildup on identified streets.

Windrow Management

  • If windrows restrict or threaten emergency vehicle access, they will be scheduled for hauling.
  • If streets remain passable, windrow accumulation may remain for up to two days under Town Policy 4305, with removal scheduled on the third day.

The Town will continue monitoring conditions and adjusting work as needed.


Snow Removal Update - Jan. 19, 2026

Snow removal crews have deployed operational equipment and are plowing accumulations in the R1 area today as scheduled.

Upcoming Work – Tuesday, Jan. 20

Streets that were not completed during the first round of residential snow removal have been signed for work tomorrow, including:

  • Black Stone Crescent
  • Elbow Drive
  • Brazeau Drive (Northwest section)
  • Maligne Drive
  • Astoria Place
  • Astoria Crescent

Any R1 streets not completed today will also be added to Tuesday’s schedule.

Snow Pile Removal

The following locations have been identified for load-out in the coming days:

  • Highwood Crescent
  • Kananaskis Bay
  • Kananaskis Green
  • Oakland Place
  • Oakland Crescent

Ice Mitigation

Crews are conducting inspections today to identify areas with significant ice accumulation. Ice mitigation work is expected to continue throughout the week on streets and, where required, on laneways.Signs will be placed where equipment access is needed to safely break up and remove ice.

Snow Removal Update - Jan. 16, 2026

Crews completed snow removal in the R5 residential area on January 15.

Today’s Work

Snow removal operations are now underway in the R3 area as planned.

Upcoming Schedule

  • Monday, January 19 – R1
  • Tuesday, January 20 – Remaining streets and any areas where snow piles or incomplete sections still need attention

This continued work will help ensure all residential areas receive snow removal despite earlier delays and equipment constraints.

Snow Removal Update - Jan. 15, 2026

Crews completed snow removal work in the R4 residential area on January 14.

Work Completed

  • All crescents in Highwood were plowed, with portions of snow removed
  • Birchwood, South Ravine Drive, and Astoria Way were completed
  • Astoria Place and Astoria Crescent were not completed and will be included in upcoming work

Snow piles remain in some crescent bubble ends. These will be removed in the coming days; however, traffic can safely move through these areas.

Updated Residential Snow Removal Schedule

  • Thursday, January 15 – R5
  • Friday, January 16 – R3
  • Monday, January 19 – R1

Any streets that remain unfinished or were scheduled earlier in the week but are still awaiting removal will be rescheduled for clearing later next week.

Snow Removal Update - Jan. 14, 2026

Residential snow removal is continuing this week as crews work through neighbourhoods using available equipment.

Status Update

  • Tuesday, January 13 – R2: Crews attempted snow removal in the R2 area. Due to conditions and equipment limitations, Blackstone Crescent and Elbow Drive were not completed, and some windrows remain in place. Public Works will remove them as soon as possible.

  • Wednesday, January 14 – R4: Snow removal is scheduled to continue in the R4 area.

  • Thursday, January 15 – R5: The R5 area is scheduled for snow removal.

  • Friday, January 16 – R3: The R3 area is scheduled for snow removal.

  • Next week (Jan. 19-23): R1 + any streets that were scheduled but not fully completed, or where snow accumulations remain, will be included in continued snow removal work next week.

Work plans may continue to adjust based on weather, equipment availability, and progress made each day.

Snow Removal Update - Jan. 13, 2026

The Town of Devon is continuing residential snow removal using available equipment while repairs to the grader are underway. Crews are adjusting methods and sequencing to make progress safely and efficiently.

Current & Upcoming Work Plan:

  • Tuesday (Jan. 13)
    Crews are working in the R2 area, making progress in manageable sections using Town equipment. Snow and ice are being scraped and removed where possible.

  • Wednesday (Jan. 14)
    RCMP and Town Office parking lots will be plowed before business hours.

    Will begin R4 Crescents using Town equipment, with snow removed where possible or windrowed to allow continued progress.

  • Thursday (Jan. 15)
    Crews will assess R5 areas, focusing on streets with the greatest need and highest traffic volumes. Snow may be plowed to the side where possible, with priority given to the most impacted streets.

  • Friday (Jan. 16)
    Pending completion of grader repairs, crews plan to resume near-normal operations, with R3 areas scheduled for snow removal.

  • Next week (Jan. 19-23)
    R1 +
    any areas not addressed will be follwed up on next week.

Snow Removal Update - Jan. 12, 2026

Today has been a challenging day for snow removal operations.

After a grader breakdown this morning and due to ongoing equipment availability issues, snow removal is on hold for the next few days. Town staff are actively working through available options to resume operations as soon as possible.

We understand this may be frustrating and appreciate the community’s patience. Updates will be shared once timelines are confirmed.

Snow Removal Update - Jan. 7, 2026

The Town of Devon will begin residential snow removal on Friday, January 9 and continue on weekdays until January 16 or completed. Crews will be working systematically to clear snow from residential streets, ensuring safe and accessible roadways for all residents.

Residents are encouraged to check the schedule below and prepare by moving vehicles off the roadways in advance of snow removal in their area.

Happy New Year, Devon.

Following a significant amount of snowfall throughout December, Town crews are continuing snow removal efforts starting Tuesday, January 6, beginning with Priority A roadways.

Snow Removal Priorities

  • Priority A – Central Business District
  • Priority B – Arterial and collector roadways
  • Priority C – Local residential roadways and laneways

Priority B and Priority C routes will follow later in the week with Priority C continuing until it is complete. The full snow removal plan will be shared once finalized.

Residents are asked to look for posted signage and move vehicles where possible to allow crews to work safely and efficiently.
